LEGNO RUSTICO reclaimed timber look feature wall in a living room

LEGNO RUSTICO: Reclaimed Timber Look Wall Panels Made From Stone

Few materials make a room feel as warm and grounded as old timber.

The deep grain, knots, cracks and weathered colour of old recycled timber have become one of the most sought-after looks in interior design. Rustic timber feature walls are showing up in boutique hotels, restaurants, wine bars and architect-designed homes, and the demand for realistic, high-end timber look wall panels keeps growing.

The catch is that genuine reclaimed timber is expensive, hard to source, heavy to install, needs ongoing oiling and is combustible. Today we are introducing a smarter way to get the look: Flexistone LEGNO RUSTICO, a reclaimed timber look wall panel made from stone.

A Reclaimed Timber Look, Cast From Real Old Timber

LEGNO RUSTICO is not a printed timber pattern or a flat timber effect vinyl. The surface of every plank is cast from moulds taken from old recycled timber boards. That means the texture you see and feel is the real thing: every groove of the grain, every knot and every split in the original weathered timber is captured in the panel.

The result is a rustic, distressed timber finish with natural variation from plank to plank, so a finished wall reads as authentic aged timber rather than a repeating print. It is the high-end recycled timber look, without hunting down old boards.

Timber Look Wall Panels Made From Stone

Underneath the timber texture, LEGNO RUSTICO is made from the same genuine stone composite as the rest of the DECKO Flexistone range. It is thin, light and flexible, and that stone base gives it properties real timber simply cannot match:

  • Group 1 Fire Rated for peace of mind in homes, hospitality venues and commercial spaces

  • Indoor and outdoor use, UV and weather resistant

  • Low maintenance, with no sanding, staining or oiling like real timber

  • Lightweight, reducing load on walls, ideal for renovations and retrofits

  • Flexible enough to curve gently around rounded walls and columns

  • No grouting required, and can be installed over existing surfaces

Group 1 Fire Rated Timber Look Cladding

Fire performance is one of the biggest reasons people look for an alternative to real timber walls. Reclaimed timber is combustible, and many timber look products on the market are not rated for commercial use. Because LEGNO RUSTICO is a stone composite, it is Group 1 fire rated, which makes it a practical choice for cafes, restaurants, hotels, offices and retail fit-outs, as well as fireplace surrounds at home (not in direct contact with flame).

How to Install Timber Look Wall Panels

Each plank measures 1200 x 200mm, covering 0.24 m² per panel, or 2.88 m² per box of 12 planks, so walls come together quickly. The panels cut easily with standard tools and are light enough to handle on your own, making LEGNO RUSTICO a great choice for confident DIYers as well as professional installers.

LEGNO RUSTICO is supplied without peel-and-stick adhesive, so you can choose the best bonding method for your project. Outdoors, use a construction-grade adhesive such as Sikaflex or Liquid Nails and seal the joints for water protection. Indoors, in dry areas, high-bond double-sided tape can also be used for a quicker install.
